1.1 Background of the Study
Child rights advocacy has become a significant focal point for non-governmental organizations (NGOs), community leaders, and the media in recent years, as the need to protect children from abuse, neglect, and exploitation grows. In regions like Dambatta Local Government Area (LGA) in Kano State, child rights issues such as child labor, early marriage, and inadequate access to education remain prevalent. Photography, as a powerful visual medium, offers a unique opportunity to raise awareness about these issues by providing tangible, emotional, and compelling images that portray the struggles faced by children. This study aims to investigate how photography can be used as a tool to promote child rights advocacy in Dambatta, providing a visual narrative that can generate public interest, influence policy change, and promote better protection mechanisms for children.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
In Dambatta LGA, as in many parts of Nigeria, child rights violations persist despite efforts by various organizations to address these challenges. One of the major obstacles in advocating for child rights is the lack of effective awareness campaigns that can resonate emotionally with the public and policymakers. While reports and statistics on child rights violations are essential, they may not always capture the full gravity of the situation. Photography provides a visual representation of these violations, enabling viewers to connect with the issue on a deeper, emotional level. However, the use of photography for child rights advocacy remains underutilized in this context. This study seeks to examine how photography can play a role in promoting child rights and influencing positive change in Dambatta.

1.5 Research Hypotheses
1.6 Significance of the Study
This study is crucial as it underscores the potential of photography in child rights advocacy, highlighting how visual media can complement existing advocacy efforts. By showcasing real-life struggles, photography has the power to humanize the issues faced by children and spark public discourse, leading to more effective solutions. The findings of this research could inform the development of more robust advocacy strategies in Dambatta LGA and beyond.
1.7 Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study focuses on the use of photography as a tool for promoting child rights advocacy specifically within Dambatta LGA, Kano State. It does not consider other forms of advocacy or the broader child protection mechanisms employed in other regions.
